Free prompts for the AutoShort MCP

MCP is the open standard that lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Gemini call tools in another service. Connected to AutoShort, your assistant can write a script with you, draft it, price it and, only when you say yes, render it as an AI-generated short.

These 30 prompts are copy-paste instructions that name the real tools in the right order. To connect your assistant first, see the connect page.

How costs work

  • Drafting a script you wrote, editing a draft, listing options and estimating a price are free tools. They use no credits.
  • A render is charged only after you say yes. A standard short up to 90 seconds is 40 credits with the default voice; every card shows its own computed price.
  • If a render fails, the credits are returned automatically. See the refund policy for the exact wording.
  • The free script preview on /en/try is a separate web feature. It does not use your MCP connection or your credits.
  • More on prices: pricing and what each action costs.

What the badges mean

  • TestedWe ran this prompt against the real AutoShort MCP server with free tools only. The note on the card says what happened.
  • Not run: costs creditsThis prompt ends in a render, which costs credits. We have not run it end to end, so the card says so instead of claiming it works.
  • UntestedNothing is charged, but we have not run this one yet.

Right now: 16 tested, 14 not run: costs credits, 0 untested.

Faceless explainer

One plain fact per short, written by your assistant and read word for word. Use case page and recipe.

One fact, one short

Not run: costs credits
Use the AutoShort tools to make one faceless explainer short about [ONE SPECIFIC FACT, e.g. "why the sky at sunset is red"].
Write the script yourself, 8 to 10 short scenes, about 70 words in total. Rules:
- Scene 1 narration is at most 9 words and states the fact itself. No "Did you know" and no question.
- The visual of scene 1 is something already in motion, not a posed or wide establishing shot.
- Every scene has one concrete detail (a number, an object or a place) that you are sure is true. If you are not sure, leave it out.
Then: call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (narration and visual per scene, artStyle [ART STYLE or leave out]). This is free. Show me the draft: scenes, estimated length, warnings.
Call autoshort_estimate_cost for the draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes call autoshort_render_draft once, then poll autoshort_get_video until it is COMPLETED or FAILED and give me the link.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A vertical short of about 30 seconds. The narration is read exactly as you wrote it; the images are AI-generated stills with camera motion, so a scene that needs a readable sign or diagram will not come out right.
Tip
About 2.4 words per second in English: 70 words is roughly 30 seconds. If the draft warns that the narration is too long, cut words instead of asking for a longer video.
Safety note
Do not ask for medical, legal or money advice as fact. The assistant must not invent statistics: tell it to leave out any number it cannot source.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 8-scene draft, 31.8 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools to prepare three explainer drafts about [TOPIC, e.g. "how bridges carry weight"], one fact per draft. Do not render anything.
For each draft write the script yourself, 6 to 8 scenes, scene 1 narration at most 9 words stating the fact, scene 1 visual already in motion.
Call autoshort_draft_video three times with scenes[] (free). For every draft show me: the first line, the scene list, estimated length and any warnings.
Then call autoshort_estimate_cost for each draft id and give me the total for rendering all three.
Stop there. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step. I will tell you which ones to render, if any.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_get_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
Three stored drafts and a total price. Nothing is charged and no video exists until you ask for a render in a later message.
Tip
Compare the three first lines side by side before you pay for any of them.
Safety note
Drafts from scenes[] are free. A draft made from a brief only needs a positive credit balance and has an hourly cap, so always give scenes[].
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): 3 drafts (6 to 7 scenes, 24 to 26.5 s, no warnings), estimate_cost 40 each, 120 total; balance stayed 0.

Horror and story shorts

Short place-first stories with one wrong detail per scene. Use case page and recipe.

Place-first horror, 30 seconds

Not run: costs credits
Use the AutoShort tools to make one short horror story, at most 40 seconds, about [A PLACE AND A YEAR, e.g. "a night-shift petrol station, 1998"].
Write it yourself in 6 to 8 scenes. Rules:
- Scene 1 narration: place and year plus one ordinary thing that goes wrong, at most 9 words.
- Each scene adds exactly one detail that does not belong. The twist lands in the last scene.
- Original characters only, no real people, no known franchise, nothing gory. Visuals show one subject at a time, no readable text.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), artStyle [A STYLE FROM autoshort_list_options, or leave it out]. Show me the draft and its warnings.
Call autoshort_estimate_cost for the draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, poll autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED, give me the link.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_list_options
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A narrated AI-image story. Scares come from the writing and the pacing; do not expect film-grade monsters or consistent faces between scenes.
Tip
Keep it under 40 seconds. In our reading of public horror Shorts, 40-60 second stories were less common among the ones that beat their own channel average (a weak signal, not a rule).
Safety note
Keep it non-graphic and fictional. If you publish, say the video is AI-generated.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 7-scene draft, 29.4 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. artStyle CINEMATIC is refused by the live tool (prompt reworded). Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. I want a horror draft only, no render.
Setting: [PLACE, e.g. "a school gym after midnight"]. Write 6 scenes yourself. In each scene exactly one detail is wrong (a clock, a reflection, a sound) and it is stated in the narration and shown in the visual. Scene 1 narration is at most 9 words, scene 1 visual is already in motion. Original characters, nothing gory.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free). Then call autoshort_get_draft and read me every warning.
List for each scene which wrong detail it carries, so I can check the story. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_get_draft
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A reviewable draft and a scene-by-scene list of the wrong details. Nothing is charged.
Tip
Ask for a rewrite of any scene whose wrong detail is not visible in the picture. A detail only the narrator mentions is easy to miss.
Safety note
No real incidents, real victims or real addresses in a horror story.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): 6-scene draft 22.8 s, no warnings, get_draft returned all scenes; balance stayed 0.

Pet and animal comedy

Original animal characters doing one small thing, with a deadpan line. Use case page and recipe.

Deadpan animal roll-call

Not run: costs credits
Use the AutoShort tools to make a short animal comedy about an original character: [ANIMAL, e.g. "a round brown capybara"] whose only job today is [ONE TINY JOB, e.g. "to do absolutely nothing"].
Write 5 scenes yourself, about 25 seconds. Scene 1 narration is "This is [ANIMAL]. Its job today: [TINY JOB]." (at most 9 words). Scene 1 visual: the animal already doing the odd thing, one animal in frame.
Scenes 2 to 4: one small misadventure each, one animal per picture, deadpan narration. Last scene: a calm reaction, no moral.
Describe the animal with the same sentence in every scene visual (colour, size, one marking) so the pictures stay close to each other.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft, then autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
Narrated AI stills with camera motion. The animal usually stays recognisable, but small details such as markings and proportions can drift between scenes.
Tip
Repeat the identical character sentence in every scene visual. It is the cheapest consistency tool you have.
Safety note
Invent the animal. Do not use a named cartoon character, a real pet owner or a real brand mascot.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 5-scene draft, 30.2 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. Draft only, no render.
Write a 5-scene animal comedy about [ORIGINAL ANIMAL] and [ONE SMALL MISDEED, e.g. "knocking a cup off a table"]. Structure: scene 1 is the misdeed already happening, scene 2 (within a few seconds) is the deadpan reaction of the animal, then three scenes that escalate by one step each. One animal per picture. Scene 1 narration at most 9 words.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free) and show me the draft. Then call autoshort_update_draft only if I ask for changes.
Finish with autoshort_estimate_cost for the draft. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_update_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A draft you can edit scene by scene for free, plus the price of rendering it.
Tip
Ask for two versions of scene 2 and keep the funnier one: each edit is free.
Safety note
Fictional animals only. Do not use a real person's pet footage or voice.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): 5-scene draft, one update_draft edit applied verbatim, estimate_cost 40; balance stayed 0.

History facts

Place, year, one odd fact, built only from facts you supply or approve. Use case page and recipe.

Place, year, one anomaly

Not run: costs credits
Use the AutoShort tools to make one history short about [EVENT OR PLACE]. Use only facts I give you below or facts you are certain of; if you are not certain, leave the line out and tell me.
My facts: [PASTE 3 TO 6 FACTS WITH DATES]
Write 6 scenes yourself, about 30 seconds. Scene 1 narration: "[Place], [year]. [One-sentence anomaly]." at most 9 words. Scenes 2 to 4: three escalating facts. Last scene: one closing line that reframes the first. No invented quotes. Visuals: realistic or archival-looking scenes, one subject at a time, no real people's faces.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft, then list each fact and which of my lines it comes from.
Call autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A narrated explainer with AI-generated period-style images. The images are illustrations, not photographs of the event; say so when you post.
Tip
Paste your facts. An assistant filling gaps from memory is where wrong dates come from.
Safety note
The images are AI-generated and must not be presented as historical photographs. Do not depict real, identifiable people.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 6-scene draft, 31.4 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. Draft only, no render.
Topic: [TOPIC]. Source text I trust: [PASTE 150 TO 400 WORDS FROM A SOURCE YOU CHOSE]
Write a 6-scene script using only claims that are in that text. Scene 1 narration at most 9 words, place and year first.
Before you call any tool, show me a table with one row per claim: the claim, the exact sentence of my text it comes from. Remove any claim that has no row.
Then call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free) and show me the draft with its warnings. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_get_draft
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A claim table and a draft. The table is the assistant's own check against the text you pasted; read it, it is not a fact-check service.
Tip
Keep the source text in the same chat so you can ask "which sentence supports scene 4?" later.
Safety note
You are responsible for the facts you publish. The tools read the narration verbatim and do not verify it.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): 6-scene draft 21.6 s, no warnings, get_draft ok; the claim table is the assistant own step, not a tool; balance stayed 0.

Product demo and ads

A product page URL or your own product facts turned into a short ad. Use case page and recipe.

Use the AutoShort tools to make a product ad from this public product page: [PRODUCT PAGE URL].
First call autoshort_estimate_cost for autoshort_generate_product_ad with url [PRODUCT PAGE URL], duration 30 and language [LANGUAGE]. Tell me the credits. If the number is an upper bound (it can include a premium voice), say so and also tell me the lowest price the tool description gives. Do not ask for a premium voice. This is the price check: the product page is fetched only after I say yes. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes call autoshort_generate_product_ad once with the same arguments (give it an idempotencyKey of at least 8 characters, and reuse the same key if you have to retry). Poll autoshort_get_video every 30 seconds until COMPLETED or FAILED.
Then give me the link, the scene list, and tell me anything in the ad that is not on the product page. I will check the claims before I post it.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_generate_product_ad
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
At least 40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
An ad built from the page's text and images. The price is at least the standard render price; the estimate can show a higher upper bound that includes a premium voice. Check every claim and every picture against the page before you post.
Tip
In the public product Shorts we studied, 15 to 25 second demos were less common among the ones that beat their own channel average (71 pairs from 18 channels: a small sample, not a rule). 30 seconds is a sensible start.
Safety note
Use only pages for products you are allowed to advertise. Do not add claims such as results, rankings or reviews that the page does not state.
Test status
Price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account): estimate_cost returned 65 credits (upper bound with a premium voice; the tool description says at least 40) and charged nothing. Page fetch and render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools to make a 30-second demo short for my product: [PRODUCT NAME], which [WHAT IT DOES IN ONE SENTENCE].
Facts you may use, nothing else: [PASTE 4 TO 6 TRUE FACTS]. My own pictures (public https links, up to 6): [IMAGE URLS, or "none"].
Write 6 scenes yourself: problem, product already in use (scene 1 narration at most 9 words, no pack shot), result, one honest limitation, one plain closing line. No price claims, no "best", no results promises.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free); put each picture URL in image_url of the scene it belongs to. Show me the draft, then autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_update_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
Your own pictures appear as stills in the scenes you assigned them to (they are not animated); other scenes get AI-generated images. Text inside generated images can come out as gibberish.
Tip
Include one honest limitation. It makes the rest of the ad easier to believe.
Safety note
Only use pictures you own or have the right to use. Do not show real customers or testimonials you cannot back up.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 6-scene draft, 22.4 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. One own image_url (our own PNG) was accepted into scene 3 (imageSource "your image"). Render not run: costs credits.

Daily motivation

One rule in seven words, one concrete example. Use case page and recipe.

One rule in seven words

Not run: costs credits
Use the AutoShort tools to make one 20-second motivation short about [ONE HABIT, e.g. "starting before you feel ready"].
Write 4 or 5 scenes yourself. Scene 1 narration is the rule in 7 words or fewer. Scene 1 visual: a person or figure already mid-effort, not scenery. Then one concrete example from daily life, then one closing line. No promises about money, health or results, no quotes attributed to real people.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft and warnings, then autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.

Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A short narrated clip with AI-generated images and captions. Motivation is a crowded niche; this prompt makes a clean video, it does not make it stand out.
Tip
One rule per video. If the assistant adds a second rule, ask it to cut it.
Safety note
No promises about money, health or outcomes, and no fake quotes. Say the video is AI-generated when you post.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 5-scene draft, 19.1 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. Drafts only, no render.
Theme: [THEME, e.g. "small habits"]. Write three different one-rule scripts (4 scenes each). For each: scene 1 narration is the rule in 7 words or fewer, scene 1 visual shows a figure mid-effort, scenes 2 and 3 one concrete example, scene 4 a closing line. No repeated examples across the three.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] for each (free). Show me each first line and any warnings.
Call autoshort_estimate_cost for each draft id. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
Three drafts you can render one by one on different days. Nothing is charged until you ask.
Tip
Render one, read how it looks, then adjust the other two drafts with autoshort_update_draft before you spend more.
Safety note
No promises about money or outcomes in any line.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): 3 drafts of 4 scenes (13 to 15.4 s, no warnings), estimate_cost 40 each, 120 total; balance stayed 0.

Language learning

Three-phrase lessons narrated in the language you are teaching. Use case page and recipe.

Use the AutoShort tools to make a 25-second lesson: three useful phrases for [SITUATION, e.g. "ordering coffee"] in [TARGET LANGUAGE].
First call autoshort_list_options with language [LANGUAGE CODE, e.g. "es"] and tell me which voices exist for that language. Do not pick a premium voice unless I ask.
Write 5 scenes yourself, narration entirely in [TARGET LANGUAGE], simple words: scene 1 is the first phrase spoken in a situation already happening (at most 9 words), scenes 2 and 3 the other phrases, scene 4 all three again slowly, scene 5 one closing line. Visuals show the situation, with no text in the picture.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] and language [LANGUAGE CODE] (free). Then call autoshort_get_draft and check that the draft's language is [LANGUAGE CODE]. The language is detected from the narration and can come out as English for a short script. If it is not [LANGUAGE CODE], call autoshort_update_draft with draftId and language [LANGUAGE CODE] and show me autoshort_get_draft again. Show me the draft and warnings, then autoshort_estimate_cost.

A narrated lesson in the language you set, once the draft's language reads correctly (the draft tool detects the language from the narration, so the check step matters). Voice quality differs by language and the images cannot show readable text, so the phrases will not appear spelled out on screen as part of the picture.
Tip
Have a speaker of the language read your script before you pay for the render. The tools read your words verbatim and cannot check grammar.
Safety note
Check the translation yourself or with a speaker; do not present an unchecked translation as correct teaching material.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 5-scene Spanish draft, 19.1 s estimated, language es, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits; list_options es shows 8 voices, 2 premium (+25 credits). The draft language can come back en for short scripts: fix with autoshort_update_draft. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. No render.
1. Call autoshort_list_options with language [LANGUAGE CODE]. Tell me which voices exist for it, which are premium and what extra credits a premium voice adds.
2. Write a 4-scene lesson in [TARGET LANGUAGE] about [TOPIC], scene 1 at most 9 words.
3. Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] and language [LANGUAGE CODE] (free). Call autoshort_get_draft and check the draft's language is [LANGUAGE CODE]; the language is detected from the narration and can come out as English for a short script. If it is not, call autoshort_update_draft with draftId and language [LANGUAGE CODE] and show me autoshort_get_draft again. Read me the warnings, especially any about length.
4. Call autoshort_estimate_cost for the draft and give me the price with the default voice.
Stop. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.

What to expect
A list of the voices the live options report for that language, a draft, and a price. If the options list no voice for the language, the assistant should say so instead of guessing.
Tip
Do this check once per language, before you plan a whole series in it.
Safety note
Do not rely on the assistant to pick a premium voice for you; extra voice credits are a paid choice.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): list_options es (8 voices, 2 premium +25); the draft language came back en and autoshort_update_draft with language es fixed it; estimate_cost 40; balance stayed 0.

Kids-safe bedtime stories

Original animal stories, no faces, honest made-for-kids handling. Use case page and recipe.

Use the AutoShort tools to make a calm bedtime story of about 40 seconds for young children. The hero is an original animal I make up: [ANIMAL, e.g. "a small grey hedgehog who is afraid of the dark"].
Write 6 scenes yourself, slow and gentle, short sentences. No people's faces, no named cartoon or film characters, no brand characters, no scary moments, no real places. Scene 1 narration is at most 9 words and the hero is already doing something (not a wide establishing shot). The last scene is quiet and the hero falls asleep.
Use the same one-sentence description of the animal in every scene visual. Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft, then autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.
Do not publish anything. If I later ask you to publish, ask me first whether the video is made for kids and pass my answer as madeForKids.

Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A gentle narrated story with AI-generated animal illustrations. Animal details can drift between scenes, and the narration voice is a text-to-speech voice, not a person.
Tip
Read the script aloud once yourself before you render. If it does not sound calm to you, shorten the sentences.
Safety note
Content for children has extra rules on every platform. The made-for-kids answer is yours to give, not the assistant's. Say the video is AI-generated.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 6-scene draft, 39.6 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools to set up a bedtime story series, but keep it paused so nothing is made or charged yet.
Call autoshort_list_options and tell me the niches and the voices. There may be no bedtime niche: pick the closest one from the list and tell me which and why. Then call autoshort_create_series with name "[SERIES NAME]", niche [THE CLOSEST NICHE FROM THE LIST], brief "[ONE PARAGRAPH: an original animal hero, calm tone, no people's faces, no named characters, no scary scenes]", scheduleIntervalDays [DAYS], madeForKids true, autoPostYouTube false, autoPostTikTok false, startPaused true.
Then call autoshort_list_series and show me the series is paused. Tell me that each scheduled video is charged like any video when it is made, and quote the price of one video with autoshort_estimate_cost for autoshort_generate_video, since the series tool gives no per-video price. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step. Do not call autoshort_resume_series.
Tools it triggers

Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A paused series that holds your brief. Creating it is free. When you resume it, the scheduler writes and makes each video from the brief on its own, so you do not review a script first.
Tip
If you want to approve every script, skip the series and use the story prompt above one episode at a time.
Safety note
Set madeForKids to your real answer. Leave auto-post off until you have watched at least one episode.

Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): series created paused (active false, madeForKids true, auto-post off), list_series confirmed, estimate_cost 65 for one generate_video (upper bound); resume not called, series deleted afterwards; balance stayed 0.

News recap from facts you paste

You paste the facts. The assistant does not fetch news.

Use the AutoShort tools to make a 30-second neutral recap of this event. You cannot look anything up and you must not try: use only the text I paste.
Date of the text: [DATE]. Source name: [SOURCE NAME]. Text: [PASTE THE FACTS OR ARTICLE TEXT]
Write 6 scenes yourself. Scene 1 states the main fact in at most 9 words. Use "according to [SOURCE NAME]" once. Add no fact, name, number or quote that is not in my text. No opinions, no predictions. Visuals: generic illustrative scenes, no real people's faces, no logos.
Before you call any tool, list each claim with the sentence of my text it comes from.
Then call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft, then autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A narrated recap of only what you pasted, over AI-generated illustrative images. The images do not show the real event.
Tip
Put the date in the narration if the story can go out of date.
Safety note
AutoShort does not fetch news or verify it. Check the text yourself, label the video as AI-generated, and do not present generated images as footage of the event.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 6-scene draft, 29.8 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. Draft only, no render, no lookups.
Text I paste (the only source): [PASTE THE TEXT]
Step 1: show me a table of every claim you want to use and the exact sentence it comes from. Mark anything you are tempted to add from memory as REMOVED.
Step 2: write 5 scenes using only the table, scene 1 at most 9 words.
Step 3: call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free) and show me the draft and its warnings.
Step 4: call autoshort_estimate_cost. Stop. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A claims table and a draft. This makes it easy to see what the script rests on; it does not verify the source.
Tip
Ask the assistant to rewrite any claim that sounds stronger than your source.
Safety note
Do not use this for breaking, medical, legal or election news. Nothing here checks accuracy.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): 5-scene draft 18.8 s, no warnings, estimate_cost 40; no lookup tool involved; balance stayed 0.

Silent UGC ad for your own app

Silent 9-12 s promo with a fictional AI character and your screen recording.

Use the AutoShort Silent UGC tools to make a silent 9-12 second promo for my own app: [APP NAME], which [WHAT IT REALLY DOES, at least 20 characters]. App page: [PUBLIC URL].
My screen recording is at this public https link (MP4 or MOV, 3 to 60 seconds): [RECORDING URL].
1. Call autoshort_ugc_upload_recording with recordingUrl.
2. A new character portrait and a preview each cost credits, and autoshort_ugc_suggest_hooks needs at least 1 credit in the balance (the tool descriptions say how much). Tell me that, then Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
3. After my yes call autoshort_ugc_create_campaign with the app name, description, recordingAssetId and a fictional adult character: characterStyle "faceless" (hands on a phone), or a described fictional adult if I say "face". Never a real or public person, a lookalike or a handle.
4. Call autoshort_ugc_suggest_hooks. Show me all hooks and let me pick one. Drop any hook with a money or results promise, or a statistic.
5. Call autoshort_ugc_preview for my chosen hook and show me the preview.
6. Call autoshort_estimate_cost for autoshort_ugc_render_batch with the campaignId and one variant, tell me the total credits for the render, and stop. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: call autoshort_ugc_render_batch once, then poll autoshort_ugc_get_campaign until the videos are done and give me the links.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_ugc_upload_recording
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_ugc_create_campaign
  • autoshort_ugc_suggest_hooks
  • autoshort_ugc_preview
  • autoshort_ugc_render_batch
  • autoshort_ugc_get_campaign
Estimated cost
44 credits (about $0.70 on the Starter plan, $0.88 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A 9-12 second silent video: a fictional AI character reacts with body language and a hook, then your real screen recording. The phone screen in the character clip is blank or glowing and not legible; your app is shown in the recording part. Needs a paid plan to render.
Tip
Hooks are called "free" but need at least 1 credit in your balance, so a 0-credit account is refused at that step. Preview one hook before you approve more. A re-caption with a new hook that reuses the same clip is priced separately and is much cheaper than a new clip.
Safety note
For your own app only. The character is a fictional adult, the video carries an AI-generated note, and no money or results claims are allowed. Turn the platform's AI label on when you post.
Test status
Price quotes run on 2026-10-29 (QA account): estimate_cost 1 (portrait) + 1 (preview) + 42 (one new-clip variant) = 44 credits; hook suggestions need a balance of at least 1. No Silent UGC tool was called. Render not run: costs credits.
I want to plan Silent UGC hooks for my own app before I create anything. Do not call any Silent UGC tool and do not render.
App: [APP NAME]. What it really does: [DESCRIPTION]. The one screen I will record: [WHICH SCREEN].
Call autoshort_get_capabilities and read me the Silent UGC limits and flow in your own words.
Then write 12 hooks for the upper third of the first scene, at most 9 words each, in these styles: "I can't believe...", "No one told me...", "POV: ...", "X months of ... and now I find this", and one about price (only if I give you a real price: [PRICE or "none"]).
Remove any hook that promises money or results, quotes a statistic or says "in 2 minutes". Mark which five you would test first and why. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_get_capabilities
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A hook list you can bring to autoshort_ugc_suggest_hooks later. The tool also filters dishonest hooks, but your own list lets you compare.
Tip
Test few hooks. Our own silent app ads got small view counts, and the hooks we tried did not change that (see the measurements we cite on the case-studies page).
Safety note
A hook must describe what the app really does. No testimonials, no made-up user numbers.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): get_capabilities returned the silent-ugc workflow (flow, 9-12 s output, prices 1 / 1 / 42 / 1); no Silent UGC tool called; balance stayed 0.

Fixed-character series

One original character, the same description in every scene, one episode at a time.

Character bible and episode one

Not run: costs credits
Use the AutoShort tools to start a character series. I want one episode now, not a batch.
Step 1: invent ONE original character: [ANIMAL OR OBJECT IDEA]. Write a one-sentence look (species, colour, size, one marking, one accessory) that you will paste word for word at the start of every scene visual. No people's faces, no named characters, no brands.
Step 2: write episode 1 in 5 scenes, about 30 seconds. One character per picture. Scene 1 narration at most 9 words, character already in motion. The last scene ends on an open question the next episode answers.
Step 3: call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft and the character sentence.
Step 4: call autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED. Then stop. Do not draft episode 2 until I have watched this one.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_render_draft
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
One episode with a recognisable but not identical character: the same description helps, it does not lock the look. Expect small drift in markings, proportions and style between scenes.
Tip
Save the character sentence in your notes and paste it into every future episode.
Safety note
Original characters only. Do not describe a real person, a real pet owner or an existing cartoon character.
Test status
Draft + price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account, free tools only): 5-scene draft, 27.7 s estimated, no warnings, estimate_cost 40 credits, balance stayed 0. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools to check my draft before I pay for it. Draft id: [DRAFT ID]. If I did not give an id, call autoshort_list_videos with status DRAFT and ask me which one.
Call autoshort_get_draft. For every scene check: (1) the visual contains this exact character sentence: "[CHARACTER SENTENCE]"; (2) only one character appears; (3) no readable text, logo or sign is requested. List every scene that fails and why.
Fix the failing scenes with autoshort_update_draft (edits to visual only; leave the narration alone) and show me the updated draft. Then call autoshort_estimate_cost. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_list_videos
  • autoshort_get_draft
  • autoshort_update_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A scene-by-scene check and free edits to the visuals. It cannot guarantee the final pictures match; it removes the causes you control.
Tip
Run this before every render of an episode, not only the first.
Safety note
Editing a draft is free, but a later render of the changed draft is charged once.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): list_videos DRAFT found the draft; get_draft; two visual-only update_draft edits applied, narration unchanged, estimate_cost 40; balance stayed 0.

Season plan

Plan episodes in chat, keep the plan in a paused series, make one episode at a time.

Use the AutoShort tools to plan a season and store it, without making any video.
Idea: [SERIES IDEA]. Write the plan in this chat: one character (original, one-sentence look), [NUMBER] episodes, and for each a one-line hook of at most 9 words, three beats, and one cliffhanger line the next episode answers. Show it to me and wait for my changes.
After I approve the plan, call autoshort_list_options, then autoshort_create_series with name "[NAME]", the closest niche from the list (tell me which and why), brief = the character sentence plus the full episode list, scheduleIntervalDays [DAYS], autoPostYouTube false, autoPostTikTok false, startPaused true.
Then call autoshort_list_series and show me it is paused.
Tell me plainly: the series stores the brief only; when resumed, the scheduler writes each script itself from the brief, so it does not follow my episode scripts exactly. For episodes I want to control line by line, we make them one at a time with autoshort_draft_video. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step. Do not call autoshort_resume_series.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_list_options
  • autoshort_create_series
  • autoshort_list_series
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A reviewed plan in chat and a paused series that holds it as a brief. There is no per-episode script store in the tools every account has: treat the series as a container, not as a scripted season.
Tip
Copy the plan into your own notes. The series stores it as text, and so does your chat.
Safety note
Keep auto-post off and the series paused until you have read the first episode.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): series created paused with the plan as its brief, list_series confirmed active false; resume not called, series deleted afterwards; balance stayed 0.
Use the AutoShort tools. Plan first, one draft second, no render.
Idea: [SERIES IDEA]. Write a [NUMBER]-episode plan in this chat: the character sentence, per episode a hook of at most 9 words (first image already in motion), the three beats and the cliffhanger. Show it and wait for my yes or changes.
After my yes, write episode 1 as 5 scenes and call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free). Show the draft and warnings, then call autoshort_estimate_cost. Stop. I will render episode 1 only when I say so, and we make episode 2 after I have watched it. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A plan you can edit freely and a draft of episode 1. Nothing is charged.
Tip
One episode at a time: what you learn from episode 1 changes episode 2.
Safety note
Plans are just text until you render; keep your own copy.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): episode-1 draft of 5 scenes 16.3 s, no warnings, estimate_cost 40; balance stayed 0.

Caption translation

A second caption line, or a narration in another language.

Use the AutoShort tools to make one short with a second caption line in [CAPTION LANGUAGE CODE, e.g. "vi"] under English narration.
Brief: [WHAT THE VIDEO IS ABOUT, 2 to 3 sentences]. Target length [SECONDS] seconds, language "en".
First check [CAPTION LANGUAGE CODE] against the captionSecondaryLanguage enum in autoshort_generate_chat_video's input schema (autoshort_estimate_cost does not validate it). If the code is not in the enum, tell me and stop; do not guess another one. Then call autoshort_estimate_cost for autoshort_generate_chat_video with these arguments including captionSecondaryLanguage "[CAPTION LANGUAGE CODE]". If the number is an upper bound (it can include a premium voice), say so and tell me the price with the default voice. Do not ask for a premium voice. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes call autoshort_generate_chat_video once (message = the brief, targetDuration, language "en", captionSecondaryLanguage, an idempotencyKey of at least 8 characters). Poll autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED and give me the link.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
  • autoshort_generate_chat_video
  • autoshort_get_video
Estimated cost
40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A video whose script AutoShort writes from your brief (you do not review it first), with a translated second caption line. The estimate can show an upper bound that includes a premium voice; the default voice is cheaper. The translated line is machine-made; have a speaker check it.
Tip
If you want to approve the script first, draft it with autoshort_draft_video (the next prompt shows how for another language) and render with autoshort_render_draft; the second caption line is only an option of the chat tool.
Safety note
Machine translation can be wrong or rude in a language you do not read. Check before you post.
Test status
Price quote run on 2026-10-29 (QA account): estimate_cost returned 65 credits (upper bound; 40 with the default voice per the tool description) and charged nothing; vi is in the tool schema enum, the estimate itself does not validate the code. Render not run: costs credits.
Use the AutoShort tools. Draft only, no render.
My English script: [PASTE SCRIPT, scene by scene]. Translate it into [TARGET LANGUAGE] for narration, keeping each scene's meaning and keeping scene 1 at most 9 words in the new language. Keep the visuals as they are, in English.
Call autoshort_list_options with language [LANGUAGE CODE] and tell me which voices exist for that language.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] and language [LANGUAGE CODE] (free). Then call autoshort_get_draft and check that the draft's language is [LANGUAGE CODE]; the language is detected from the narration and can come out as English. If it is not, call autoshort_update_draft with draftId and language [LANGUAGE CODE] and show me autoshort_get_draft again. Read me every warning, especially length warnings, and fix those only if I ask.
Call autoshort_estimate_cost and stop. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_list_options
  • autoshort_draft_video
  • autoshort_get_draft
  • autoshort_update_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A draft narrated in the target language, with warnings if a translation runs longer than the target duration. Narration is read verbatim, so every translation mistake is voiced.
Tip
Ask a speaker to read the translated narration before you render.
Safety note
Do not publish a translation you cannot read or have not had checked.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): list_options vi (8 voices, 2 premium +25); the Vietnamese draft language came back en and update_draft with language vi fixed it (estimate 20.8 s to 14.4 s); estimate_cost 40; balance stayed 0.

Hook rewrite

Rewrite scene 1 of a draft or a finished video. Free until you re-render.

Use the AutoShort tools. Draft id: [DRAFT ID]. If I did not give one, call autoshort_list_videos with status DRAFT and ask me which.
Call autoshort_get_draft and read me scene 1 narration and visual.
Write 3 alternatives for scene 1. Each narration is at most 9 words and states the content itself: no scene-setting opener ("In a", "Once upon", "It was"), no teaser that the video does not pay off. Each visual is something already happening (an event under way), not a pose or a wide establishing shot. Keep every fact true to the rest of the script.
Show me the 3 options and wait. When I pick one, call autoshort_update_draft with an edits entry for scene 1 only (narration and visual). Show me the updated draft. Then autoshort_estimate_cost. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_list_videos
  • autoshort_get_draft
  • autoshort_update_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
Three options and one free edit to scene 1. Whether the new hook holds more viewers is unknown until you post and look at your own numbers.
Tip
Change only scene 1 and post the old and new cut of the same story to compare, if you want to learn something.
Safety note
A hook must be true to the video. Do not promise something the rest of the script does not deliver.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): list_videos DRAFT, get_draft, scene-1-only update_draft applied, estimate_cost 40; balance stayed 0.
Use the AutoShort tools. Video id: [VIDEO ID]. If I did not give one, call autoshort_list_videos with status COMPLETED and ask me which.
Call autoshort_get_video and tell me the first scene's narration and visual if the answer includes them.
Write one better scene 1: narration at most 9 words stating the content, visual already in motion. Call autoshort_revise_scene with videoId, scene 1 and the new narration and visual. This makes a NEW draft and charges nothing; the original video stays as it is.
Show me the new draft with autoshort_get_draft and then price it with autoshort_estimate_cost. Remind me that rendering it is a new, full-price video, because only whole videos can be re-rendered. Do not call autoshort_render_draft. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
Tools it triggers
  • autoshort_list_videos
  • autoshort_get_video
  • autoshort_revise_scene
  • autoshort_get_draft
  • autoshort_estimate_cost
Estimated cost
Free: 0 credits. Nothing is rendered.
What to expect
A new draft with scene 1 changed and a price. The price follows the source video (it can be higher than a plain standard render), and the changed video costs that in full if you approve it; there is no single-scene re-render inside the existing file. The assistant may not be able to read the scene list of a finished video from autoshort_get_video.
Tip
Only revise scene 1 if the hook is the thing you want to learn about. Otherwise a new idea is usually a better use of a render.
Safety note
Keep the old video up until the new one is rendered and you have watched it.
Test status
Tested 2026-10-29 on the QA account (free tools only): on a finished video of the QA account (made 2026-10-28): get_video, revise_scene made a new draft, get_draft, estimate_cost 65 (price follows the source video); original stays COMPLETED; balance stayed 0.

Repurpose a blog post

You paste the article text. One point per short.

Use the AutoShort tools to turn ONE point of my article into a 30-second short. You cannot open links: use only the text I paste.
Article text: [PASTE THE ARTICLE]
Pick the single most useful point and tell me which one before writing. Write 6 scenes yourself. Scene 1 narration states the point in at most 9 words. Use a number or example only if it is in my text. Last scene: one plain closing line (no "link in bio" promise, no price). Visuals show the point as a concrete scene, one subject at a time.
Call autoshort_draft_video with scenes[] (free), show me the draft, then autoshort_estimate_cost. Show me the price first and wait for my yes before any paid step.
After my yes: autoshort_render_draft once, then autoshort_get_video until COMPLETED or FAILED.

40 credits (about $0.63 on the Starter plan, $0.80 at the $0.02-per-credit list rate). Ask for the price first: autoshort_estimate_cost quotes it for free.
What to expect
A short that covers one point of the article with AI-generated visuals. It is a summary, not a copy of the article layout, charts or screenshots.
Tip
Choose the point yourself if you can: tell the assistant "use the section about [HEADING]".
Safety note
Only repurpose text you wrote or have the right to use, and do not add claims your article does not make.

Questions

Do I need a paid plan to try these prompts?

Connecting AutoShort to your assistant costs nothing, and so do drafts you write as scenes, price estimates and the planning prompts in this library: they use no credits. A render needs credits. AutoShort has no free plan; the paid 3-day start is $2.99 and includes 150 credits, enough for 3 standard videos. The free script preview on /en/try is a separate web feature and does not connect to your assistant.

What does a prompt cost?

Each card prints its own line, computed from the live price list. A standard short of up to 90 seconds is 40 credits with the default voice, and the premium ElevenLabs voice adds 25. A credit is about $0.016 on the Starter plan and $0.02 at the list rate. autoshort_estimate_cost prices any paid call for free before you agree to it.

Can the AI render a video without asking me?

Every prompt here tells the assistant to show the price and wait for your yes, and the tool descriptions say to render only after you have seen the draft and approved it. That is an instruction to the assistant, not a lock. The hard limit is a daily spending cap per connection: 500 credits per day by default. Ask the assistant to read it with autoshort_get_limits and lower it with autoshort_set_limits; raising it needs your approval on a link you open yourself.

What happens if a render fails?

If a video you were charged for fails to render, the credits it used are returned to your balance automatically. The return shows as a Refund line in your credit history (Dashboard, then Credits). If no refund line appears, email support@autoshort.org and we will correct it. The refund policy page has the full wording.

Which assistants work with these prompts?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code can connect to the AutoShort MCP server and sign in with OAuth. Each app has its own rules for custom connectors, so follow the steps for your app on the connect page. The prompts are plain text and do not depend on one assistant, but how well an assistant follows a long instruction differs.
